Ipswich has a population of around 137,000 and is one of the oldest continually inhabited towns in England.
There are countless reasons to consider moving to Ipswich:
One of the main attractions of Ipswich is its ever-improving Waterfront, originally established in 1842. The waterfront is a lovely area to have a leisurely stroll; to dine at one of its many cafés, bars, bistros and restaurants or to take in the views of the marina.
If you’re a football fan, you’re in luck! Ipswich has its own football stadium, the town centre really comes alive when there is a home match. The football stadium holds 30,311 fans, making this the largest capacity football ground in all of East Anglia. The stadium has hosted many other sporting events, such as hockey games and athletics meetings. It has also hosted many music concerts, some recent ones including Elton John, Rod Stewart and Ed Sheeran!
There are so many historical features and buildings in Ipswich including St Lawrence’s church. This is the oldest church in Ipswich and holds the oldest church bell in existence in England, the Treble bell – being cast in about 1218. The five bells of St Lawrence church have not been heard for 20 years; because of how loud the noise is, which makes the tower shake.
If you’re into history, then you must visit the Ipswich Museum. The Museum is home to at least 200,000 artefacts, many of which have high importance internationally. You can find a large mammoth statue displayed in the main foyer of the museum, along with other interesting artefacts. The Museum was erected in 1847 and is currently under redevelopment.
The university and colleges offer many courses and lectures for all individuals with a keen mind. Many students decide to stay in the area of Suffolk after higher education, to stay close to home. The university can be seen facing the stunning waterfront.
Getting around Ipswich
